I Wish…
I wish that I could have seen you Lord,
When you lived in the Holy Land.
To have listened to your commanding voice,
And felt the power in your hand.
I’d love to have watched you walking upon
The Sea of Galilee,
And heard when you spoke to Zacchaeus,
Who had climbed a sycamore tree.
But Lord, what bitter tears I’d have shed,
When the soldiers led you away,
And with heavy heart I’d have gone to the tomb
To see the place where you lay.
But just imagine how thrilled I’d have been
When I saw the empty shroud,
And the Angels would tell me you had risen.
I’d be thankful, and so proud!
But later, as you ascended to heaven,
I’d panic and call: "please stay".
Then I’d hear you say: "I’ve not left you my child,
I’ll still hear, and speak when you pray".
My tear-stained face would light up with joy,
And my heart would be filled with love.
I’ll worship you Lord, and have faith and trust,
Till I join you in heaven above.
